On 20 February, the World Day of Social Justice, the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES) released a video that highlights the Society’s shared commitment to justice, dignity, and reconciliation. Featuring Jesuits and mission partners in social justice ministries, including our Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific Migrants and Refugees Network Coordinator Fr Jun Nakai SJ, the video seeks to amplify the voices, experiences, and mission of the Jesuit network worldwide, inviting wider awareness and engagement with the call to promote social justice.
The SJES message echoes Pope Leo XIV’s words on the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul: “We are one—let’s make it visible.”
“Those words feel both urgent and unsettling. Across the world, we witness massive upheaval. Billions of people remain unable to access justice, and millions continue to live in extreme and often dangerous conditions of injustice,” wrote Fr Roberto Jaramillo SJ, SJES Secretary, in his letter to the faithful.
“Today, we bring together voices from different parts of the world, all collaborators who share what gives them hope, what troubles their conscience, and what questions refuse to let them rest. They speak not as observers, but as companions walking alongside people who struggle daily for dignity and justice,” he added.
Fr Jaramillo invites all who share this mission to listen with their hearts: “What moves you? What disturbs you? Where do you sense a call to stand—with whom, and how?
“May this day not pass as just another date on the calendar, but as a moment that helps us make our oneness visible, through attention, compassion, and action.”
