World Day of Social Justice: “We are one—let’s make it visible”

Blog / News

Social justice has long been at the heart of the mission of the Society of Jesus.

Our mission today is the service of faith, of which the promotion of justice is an absolute requirement.

This makes the social ministry a fundamental aspect of the work of the Society of Jesus, and perhaps the broadest of all Jesuit ministries in terms of scope and reach.

Our efforts span diverse initiatives, including:

Empowering migrants & refugees

reconciliation

How can we help?

How We Can Make a Difference

Providing Direct Services to Those in Need

We respond to the immediate needs of vulnerable populations, offering essential support such as shelter, food, healthcare, and education

Engaging in Social
and Cultural Analysis

Through social and cultural analysis, we explore systemic inequalities and identify the factors perpetuating poverty, discrimination, and marginalization.

Encouraging Theological
Reflection on Injustice

By examining questions of justice through the lens of faith, we deepen our understanding of how spiritual values intersect with the fight for equity and human dignity

Advocating for
Systemic Change

By examining questions of justice through the lens of faith, we deepen our understanding of how spiritual values intersect with the fight for equity and human dignity.

Campaigning for
a Just World

We join forces with other organizations and movements dedicated to justice, participating in campaigns that promote peace, equality, and sustainability.

Building Networks
for Greater Impact

By fostering collaboration among Jesuit communities, organizations, and stakeholders, we strengthen efforts to advocate for those in need and amplify their voices.

Across our provinces and regions, our social apostolates range from local social services to work with the prison services, migrants & refugees, and Indigenous persons.

There are also several Jesuit social justice organisations working for peace and justice for all of those in need.
